EA has announced that two of its most iconic franchises will be collaborating later this month, Battlefield and Dead Space. In a limited-time event that will run from July 9th-16th, Battlefield 2042 will receive a new Outbreak mode, which will see squads face a new and relentless enemy while trying to escape from the Boreas laboratory.
It is not just a new mode that players can look forward to when Dead Space comes to Battlefield 2042, there will also be free rewards to unlock including a new weapon charm and skin, as well as a player card background and tag. Players will also be able to purchase the legendary Marked Man outfit, as well as three legendary weapons skins and other cosmetics for 2,200 BFC.
Recently, Battlefield 2042 has been seeing a slight renaissance and gaining popularity among gamers. This began in March 2024 when the game was given a free play weekend on Steam, which boosted the player count from just 13,000 to over 43,000. Then, the number jumped up once again on June 30th to 24,000 and has been averaging 21,000-24,000 concurrent players every day since.
Currently, the Steam Summer Sale is ongoing until July 11th and Battlefield 2042 is 90% off at just £4.99, which could have led to many players finally trying the game out. It recently saw the release of Season 7 in March, which will be the final season in the game as the developers now focus on the next entry of the series. This means the state that the game is in now is the complete version so if all of the issues at launch have put you off, now could be the best time to finally try it out.
