How to unlock the Recoilless Rifle in Helldivers 2

The Recoilless Rifle is a rocket launcher stratagem that can be unlocked at Level 5 for 6000 Requisition Slips. It has a call-in time of 3 seconds, a cooldown of 480 seconds, and can be called down an unlimited number of times. Use the Streamlined Request Process ship module to lower this cooldown by 10%. Requisition Slips for support weapon stratagems can be earned by completing missions and operations in-game. As for leveling up, here’s our leveling up fast guide.

How to use the Recoilless Rifle effectively in Helldivers 2

Note that you can zoom in with the Recoilless Rifle by using the scroll wheel or pressing R3 on PlayStation controllers. While you can shoot it in third-person, it’s less consistent and will make aiming more difficult. You can’t deal a lot of splash damage with its blast radius, so don’t aim at the ground. Instead, aim for the main body or limbs to incapacitate foes. Headshots are great too but it can be difficult to land them. While zoomed in, you’ll also be shown weak spots (red for Automatons and yellow for Terminids), so focus on hitting these. Its lethal damage helps it rank highly in our Helldivers 2 best weapons list.

If you have an ally nearby, they can use the support weapon backpack to help you reload faster. This will let you decimate powerful enemies. While the weapon can one-hit many weaker enemies, you’ll want to save it for stronger ones like Chargers and Hulks, and especially those with light armor. Its armor penetration will come in handy against Bile Titans and Devastators too. Use your first shot to knock your enemy down before reloading and the second shot to finish them off. If you’re caught off-guard, look for cover before reloading as enemies can take advantage of this. Pair this weapon with a high fire rate option like the Liberator rifle or the P-19 Redeemer pistol as a secondary weapon to clear out weaker enemies with a spray of bullets.

So is the Recoilless Rifle better solo or with a friend?

You can use the Recoilless Rifle solo but it takes longer to reload after each shot. Get an ally to use the supply backpack (dropped with the weapon) and interact with you after firing the weapon. Having a loader will boost your damage output, letting you mow through armored Terminids and Automatons. If you’re facing weaker enemies, consider other supply weapons like the Grenade Launcher, Machine Gun, or Flamethrower. An ally could use one of these to quickly clear out an area before you focus on the tougher enemies. And if this weapon is a hassle, you can rely on the EAT-17 Expendable Anti-Tank single-use stratagem to quickly get you out of a sticky situation.
